Social Media Ideas for Trade Shows
It seems a new social platform is added to a marketer’s tool belt every year. If you’re not a social-media coordinator, it can be frustrating keeping up with trends and brainstorming content. Are you looking for social media ideas to use at your next trade show? While not every company has the budget for a full-time creator, we created ideas to utilize your exhibit while at the expo.
Content Ideas:
- Show Updates
- Showcase your exhibit with where you are located in the event hall. “Stop by our exhibit in North Hall! We are booth number 1234” Make sure to hashtag and tag the expo just incase they feature you on their story.
- Post Daily Updates. “Dimension Craft Day 1 at [Insert Expo Name]! Will we see you today?”
- Follow-Up Posts. “End of Day 2 at [Insert Expo Name]. Thank you to everyone that stopped by our booth. Looking forward to another great day tomorrow.”
- Booth Walkthrough. Take a video walkthrough of your exhibit. For customers not attending the expo, this will be a great highlight to see what they missed.
- Customer Posts
- Customer Testimonial Videos. If you have customers attending the show, ask them if they can do a quick testimonial video on the benefits of partnering with your company. If they are unable to do a video, ask if they can write a quick two sentence testimonial that you can share on social media with them at the booth.
- New Customer Announcements. Have new customers attending the show? Ask if they will take a photo with your team announcing the partnership on social media. “Dimension Craft is excited to partner with [insert company name]. Happy to see them stop by our exhibit at [insert show name].”
- Company Updates
- Product Launch. Have a new product launching at the expo? Make sure to post about it! “Dimension Craft is excited to announce that we will be offering [new feature]. Stop by our exhibit 1234 to discuss with one of our sales members how it can help your business.”
- Company Rebrand. Has your company changed their logo and brand identity? Announce it at the expo with your exhibit. “We changed our logo! After # years in business, we have decided to move from our traditional branding to a modern design that highlights the transition of our business. Stop by booth 1234 to grab our new branded giveaways!”
- Employee Photos
- Take videos with your employees at your exhibit to post. Create a fun video of your team preparing for the show and then the team at the show. “The Dimension Craft team has officially landed and is prepared to take on the [insert show name]. Check us out at booth number 1234.”
- Employee Professional Headshots. Take headshots of your employees with your exhibit in the background. They can use this as their new LinkedIn profile photo and you can use it to highlight them on your accounts.
- Promotions for Future Shows
- Use photos from the show to promote future shows that your company will attend. This will showcase your brand and help your customers recognize your exhibit on the show floor.
- Calendar Countdown. Use your past exhibit photos to post on social media with a calendar countdown until the next show. “T-minus 2 months until [insert expo name], will we see you at our booth?”
You spend a lot of money attending trade shows, make sure you are using your exhibit for social media content. To get started, all you need is your cell phone and access to your company social media accounts. Social Media Ideas for Trade Show Tips:
- Take horizontal and vertical options. You’ll be thankful when creating a post and you won’t need to zoom in on a vertical image for a specific horizontal layout.
- Don’t overcomplicate it. People want to see a real person on their screen, have talking points but make it seem like a conversation.
- Have fun with your content! Not only will it help create a personality for your brand, it can also help form a relationship with your viewers.
